I had the opportunity to be part of the Annual Human Rights Defenders Academy in 2019. I am happy to have acquired skills, specific to digital security. I am now able to protect myself against digital threats that are sometimes are directed at me because I am simply a woman human rights defender
Grassroot rights defenders face diverse security risks, some of which are extremely technical in nature. They even push one to a corner of isolation and defeat. But with the training on situational mapping, physical security and exchange programs with other rights defenders I am able to mitigate with ease. You should also be part of the training programs to learn on how to best protect yourself in your work
The digital security training was fascinating. The trainers was excellent, his knowledge, experience and ability to translate technical jargon to layman’s language made it easy for us to understand. I can now protect myself while doing my work online.
